1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, browsing, registering for an account, or subscribing to services on chessflair.com ("ChessFlair," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these terms, you must discontinue your use of our platform immediately. If you are registering on behalf of a minor, you warrant that you are their parent or legal guardian with full authority to bind them to these terms.
2. Platform Overview
ChessFlair is an educational marketplace connecting students, parents, and schools with verified chess tutors and FIDE-titled masters. We provide matching, scheduling, virtual classrooms (via Google Meet), curated curriculum tracking, and subscription billing.
3. Subscriptions, Pricing & Payments
- Monthly Plan Allotment: Individual and Family memberships include exactly 4 masterclass sessions per monthly billing cycle (60 mins for Individual, 75 mins for Family).
- Currency & Processing: All subscription prices are stated and billed in Nigerian Naira (₦) through our secure payment partner, Paystack.
- Active Membership Requirement: Students must hold an active monthly subscription with available lesson credits to book session slots with coaches.
- Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions renew monthly on the cycle date unless cancelled prior to renewal via the student dashboard.
4. Lesson Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy
Virtual Lessons (24-Hour Notice): You may reschedule or cancel an online lesson up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Your lesson credit will be automatically returned to your active monthly balance.
Physical / In-Person Lessons (48-Hour Notice): In-person sessions require at least 48 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling.
Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Cancellations made inside the 24-hour (virtual) or 48-hour (physical) window, or failure to attend a confirmed lesson, will forfeit that lesson credit to fairly compensate the instructor for their reserved time.
5. Code of Conduct & Safety
ChessFlair maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment, abusive behavior, discrimination, and academic dishonesty.
- Instructors must maintain professional demeanor and uphold child safety protocols at all times.
- Students must conduct themselves respectfully during virtual and in-person lessons.
- Engaging in computer-assisted cheating or unsporting conduct on chess platforms during sessions is strictly prohibited.
6. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
Chess rating improvement is fundamentally dependent on personal discipline, study, and tactical practice. ChessFlair does not guarantee specific rating gains or tournament outcomes.
Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. ChessFlair is not liable for third-party service interruptions, including local telecommunications downtime, Google Meet availability, or power disruptions.
7. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms shall be resolved through amicable mediation or the competent courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
